Ojochal opens another Hit of a Restaurant.

Ojochal has long been known as sitting in the middle of what is perhaps the most beautiful real estate in Costa Rica, the Southern zone, where scarlet Mac Caws, Tucans and White faced monkeys are seen in the lush, rain forest covered mountains stretching to the sea. However, Ojochal is also known to have some of the country’s most exquisite cuisine.

“Where is Ojochal and why would it be known for its cuisine?”, you might ask. First of all Ojochal is about 25 miles south of Dominical and Uvita and about 25 miles north of Palmar Sur and Sierripe where the new international airport is slated to arrive in 2010.

The cuisine is “Mediterranean Fusion” and it is owned by Sylvain and Marcella Fillion, who are originally from Paris and have lived in the Osa region for 11 years. They were originally co founders of another area favorite, Exotica, serving wonderful French eclectic food. Citrus seats about 100 people comfortably in a upscale indoor / outdoor atmosphere surrounded by the beauty of the area.

Marcel is certainly not the only one that feels that way. The service was excellent. The atmosphere is artistic, edgy, modern and just plain cool. The appetizers, and entrees such jumbo shrimp in the Citrus secret sauce are to die for and their deserts and even their cappuccino are outstanding. Did we mention they have a full service, premium bar as well? This place has it all; it’s a hit and it looks like it will be that way for a long time to come.
